The Killers @ The o2
Last weekend I built, composed and photographed “The Killers”. My tools : Lego, Paper backdrop a Camera and Bob’s your Uncle! The reason for this was because the band have a strict no photographers rule. I first encountered this ridiculous rule at electric picnic last year, 10 minutes before the band were set to go on stage we were told – “No photographers allowed, you’ll have to leave the pit”. As they were one of my favourite bands I hoped to shoot, I was left feeling a little deflated. Their o2 gig in Dublin this weekend was no different. Photographers be gone!
No Photopass? No problem! If I can’t shoot them, I’ll build them, Never let it be said that GoldenPlec doesn’t get the shot
It took me about half an hour to create and compose the shots, but a few more hours were spent previous to this sifting through my LEGO to make sure their faces, hair and bodies someway resembled the band
Below are some nice words taken from Broadsheet.ie and Joe.ie where my photos also featured today.
“The Killers are known for banning photographers at their gigs. Talented Goldenplec Photographer, Debbie Hickey, came up with the idea of recreating the The Killers’ Dublin gig in the O2 with Lego men. I think you will agree that Lego Brandon Flowers is the spit of the real deal.” – Claire Kane

“Hickey recreated the band’s show with the building blocks, and some creative licence, easily producing the best concert images we’ve seen in ages. “- Sean Nolan

Here are a few of my photos below, you can see more of the photos and read a review of the gig over on GoldenPlec here.
